Latisse – The Only FDA-Approved Lash Enhancer Is Getting Great Results

July 13th, 2009

Our patients have been using Latisse for the last 3-4 months and are now all reporting good to terrific results. The following are some thoughts and comments shared with us over this time:

  • ‘Not only did my lashes get longer, and fuller - but darker as well. I no longer pay to have lash tinting done when I do my hair.’
  • ‘When I was sixteen, there were some sunglasses I couldn’t wear because my eyelashes were so long. For the first time in 20 years that has happened again.’
  • ‘I no longer wear any eye makeup as I love my eyelashes the way the are now.’
  • ‘I really didn’t believe that I would see a big change, but wow! The first thing I noticed was that I didn’t have so much eyelash loss. Now I have even more lashes, and they are longer.”
  • ‘People used to comment about my eyes all the time-but that stopped. And now with Latisse, the comments started again.’

We are finding that people are reporting great outcomes from Latisse. The manufacturer, Allergan, expects that their eyelash enhancer market with Latisse will grow as big as Botox.

Cure for Aging Around the Mouth

June 23rd, 2009

With advanced injection techniques, you can dramatically change the entire mouth region in one visit. This 50 year young client had some Juvederm gel filler placed to shape her upper and lower lip.

Then Botox (20 units) was added to quiet the dimpling of the chin and to relax the muscles pulling down the corners of the mouth. The result is a relaxed, elegant look to the lower face, with an inviting elevation of the corners, and a more youthful contour to the chin.

Ask for the Botox injection which relaxes those muscles which cause the ‘down in the mouth’ appearance.

Rejuvenation Surgery Doesn’t Need to Look Plastic

This 64 y/o woman had the benefit of a browlift, a facelift and chin augmentation.

Rejuvenation Surgery Doesn’t Need to Look Plastic
In a study of thousands of people who had a facelift or other rejuvenation surgery, the overwhelming number were very happy that they elected to have the surgery. One feature of the study was most interesting, the younger people in the study were generally pleased, however the more mature people were also pleased but added that they wished they would have had the surgery earlier in their lives. This addresses one of the concerns we hear during our consultations, “Should I wait longer until I am older? Should I have a facelift as the last resort?”

The more mature clients, in hindsight, suggest that the best time to go forward with your rejuvenation surgery is when you begin to feel that the aging changes have become noticeable. The most frequent concerns are sagging of the neck muscles and skin, onset of the jowling on the sides of the jaw, and the droop of the eyebrows.

Chin Augmentation is the Ultimate Balancing Act

June 15th, 2009

This 25 year old client asked to have her jaw line strengthened and to balance out the proportions of her face. Chin implants have come a long way from the little buttons that were placed under the skin. Now there are anatomically contoured implants that match the shape and size of the jaw, similar to a glove over the hands.

One of the most frequently asked questions is whether the implant can shift in position during the healing phase? Our approach is to secure the implant with two tiny biocompatible screws at the time of surgery. These screws do not interfere with any CT or MRI scans and cannot be felt.

Another question is how the size is determined for the implant? Chin implants are made in a range of sizes and generally we error on the side of not having the augmentation too large for the face. As we all age, there is some bone loss to the face- especially in the upper lip area. So selecting an implant slightly smaller gives the best long term correction.
